Saturday activities
Today I went to go help my mate April with some engine stuff on her Celica swap but arrived a little late. Her plan was to investigate an oil leak on the Toyota 2GR she's swapping in, but it turned out it was just seeping through the unoccupied flywheel bolt holes. Joy!
So we had lunch at about 2 PM and then moved to a quick 20 minute job on my car: transmission mount!

In sequence, we:
- Jacked up the car enough to get underneath.
- Looked at where the transmission mount goes. Should be easy enough.
- Removed the under-engine shield.
- ~10 bolts, 6 pop clips. Large amounts of accumulated shit raining on my face.
- Removed the transmission shield.
- ~8 bolts. Medium amounts of shit raining on my face.
- Took weight off of the transmission via jacking it up under the pan. Used a block of wood to distribute weight because You Should Not Be Doing That Generally.
- Started undoing bolts.
- Realized we could not access the bolts to the left of the image above due to them being blocked by the exhaust midpipe.
- Psychological damage.
- Accessed midpipe/overpipe bolts. Undid.
- Still couldn't move the exhaust enough to get to the bolts.
- Removed exhaust from transmission hanger and undid springy bolts at the other end of the midpipe.
- Finally, access!
- Completed the job.
- "Hey, Damon, did you look up torque specs for this at all?"
- Five minute break underneath the car while April and our other friend look up torque specs.
- Impact driver, followed by torque wrench.
- Actually completed the job.
- Put the midpipe back on and in its place.
- Removed the jack from under the transmission.
- Replaced the transmission shield.
- Replaced the under-engine shield.
- Car on ground.
- It's 7 PM.
- Psychological damage.
And that was my Saturday.
